Developmental Editing
You have an idea—a story, a book, a message for your audience—but you don't know where to start or how to put the pieces together. I enjoy working with writers to establish an organizational plan for their content, develop their ideas, and draft their work in a manuscript that reflects cohesive style with a compelling tone.
Line editing
Line editing focuses on the creative content from the sentence and paragraph level. Sentences are analyzed for the following:
- Awkward words, incorrect verb tenses, and unclear metaphors
- Unnecessary words and clichés
- Run-on sentences and redundancies
- Paragraphs and/or dialogue is tightened
- Words and phrases that clarify or enhance character development
Copyediting
Whether you need light, medium, or heavy copyediting, I will review your manuscript for the following:
- Plot continuity
- Active vs. passive voice
- Inappropriate figures of speech
- Spelling, grammar, punctuation
- Smooth transitions and sentence flow for readability
- Ensure consistency in format, usage, hyphenation, capitalization, etc.
Proofreading/Audiobook Proofing
Your work is finished and needs a second set of eyes (or ears) to review it for production errors of text, sound, and/or artwork/illustrations. I enjoy working with authors, writers, producers, and voice talent to produce beautiful works, written or auditory, for the reading and listening audience.
